Muhurta Selection – Auspicious Timing for your Event/Marriage/Move etc.

One incredible limb of Jyotish is called Muhurta, meaning “the moment.” Also known as electional astrology, it allows us to choose an auspicious moment for important activities, such as marriage, a move, taking a trip, or a new business venture. The moment is chosen based on the sky pattern at that specific moment (the placement of the Sun, Moon, rising sign and chart as a whole) and comparing it with the specific placements in your personal natal chart, and the nature of the activity you are beginning, to find the most harmonic combination.

We will begin by narrowing down the dates and times that are possibilities in your schedule (you will send me a thorough list of this info), and I will then sort through the possibilities while comparing it to your chart (and sometimes the chart of another party e.g. a marriage partner). I will spend extensive time sorting through the possible dates and times for your event, and send you an email with one time or a few times within the parameters you have given me that will have the most suitable sky pattern I can find for your activity. If you have questions around it I can clarify by email, or you can schedule a separate 30-minute call if you want to discuss your project/marriage/move in depth (perhaps scheduling this before the muhurta request if you are still making decisions around it).

Please note that I will almost definitely be choosing an auspicious time that is during daylight hours, as it is generally more auspicious to have the Sun high in the sky.

1. Birth Date, Time and Place (town & country); please note if exact time is not known; add this information for any additional parties and specify who they are (e.g. your spouse, children etc. if they are involved in the activity)
2. Where you received the information about birth times (e.g. birth certificate, mother’s memory, etc.)
3. The nature of the activity, specifically — e.g. Marriage, Moving-into-a-House, Purchasing a house, Business Launch (perhaps by sending an email or signing papers), Opening a Restaurant/Store/Gym, Taking a Trip
4. You must give me a specific list of the dates that are possible for you, and NOT possible, including any black-out dates, and any black-out times on those dates. For example, if you are planning a wedding and it must be on a Saturday or Sunday in June, please specify that (take note…if you are willing to get married on a Monday, Thursday, or Friday that might allow more auspicious possibilities). If you are planning a trip and you have flexibility on which date to leave, please give me the date range. If you are planning a business launch or meeting and it must be Monday through Friday, but you can’t do Tuesday afternoons, tell me that. Please make sure to include any and all black-out times so I can eliminate those before checking their suitability.
